Back from Vegas and Merry Christmas

I'm back from Vegas,
had a really great time with my parents. You do not realise how old they are getting until you live a day in their life. I lived 5 days with them and boy was that interesting. Really glad I was able to go, I feel had I not have been with them (they would have made it) but not nearly been able to do as much. I was able to keep pushing them and keeping them going. Everyone see things differently and I like to explore, so I keep them out and going up and down that strip all day and night. We don't do night clubs or bars, the most mom drinks is a about a half of a fuzzy navel each night. Let me tell you I had some real party animals on my hands!!! Just to be able to enjoy my parents was the best part, being able to see what they enjoy and how they are able to enjoy it was rewarding to me. You don't realise your parents really are your best friends until they are almost gone or gone and then it's to late. I am able to realise while I still have time to enjoy them. I did not take very many pictures this trip, even had two camera's with me, wanted to enjoy the company instead of sticking the camera in their face all the time.
Mom and Day at the Hilton Hotel and Casino
Red M&M and Me outside the M&M factory in Las Vegas.

Mike's job is going well, he seems to really like it. He tells me all the time "I have a lot to learn", when he was in the plumbing field doing the same thing day after day you forget how much you learn and it becomes routine daily, now he is a whole new field and had to start from the bottom. He has been putting in about 50 hours each week, but when you work with gas, life never stops. I am liking the the pay check he is bring home with 50 hours a week but also concerned how tried he is. We have his company Christmas party tomorrow night, looking forward to meeting some of the other staff members that work in the fields and make new friends also.

Kelsey has returned to bowling last week, she was excited to get back into that again. Her goal is to make the high school bowling team and she wanted to get her average back up again. I am proud to say, with not bowling in about 6 months her starting average is 138. not bad girly, keep up the good work.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
I hope everyone has a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Wish we could all spend it together, but with thousand of miles apart that is impossible. Just know that we love all of you and think about you often. You might be just up the road or across the world, that does not stop the love we feel for each of you. Enjoy your family, for time is something you can not get back and if there is one thing I want to say I live by daily is Don't have any regrets. Hug that person you never hugged before, say I love you and surprise someone. or just take the time to call and say Hi.
You never know when it might be your last.

I am going to Vegas

I'm going to Las Vegas this weekend!!! Yes, just me, oh and my parents also, Mike has to stay home and with his new job, and Kelsey is still in school. This is an annual trip for them and I get to go along. Seems that everyone else has had some time with them this year and now it my turn. Haven't been in there about 3 years so I am really looking forward to going. Should be a good time, Mom uses as scooter to get around, but I will be walking. Hopefully I should be able to drop a pound or two with all the walking I am going to be doing. But with all the buffets out there, I am sure to gain a few more then I lose.
I am going to take my camera so I should have some great photo when I get back.
See ya all when I get back, wish me luck.

Job update.

The job seems to be going really good, we are a week into in now and all is well. Mike has indicated several time, "He Has A Lot to Learn". Which I think is in turn giving him excitement knowing he is got so much ahead of him and they are allowing him to take charge and run with different projects. So stay tuned I'll keep you updated as we go along.

The new med's are working great, I feel so much better when I take them. I know that sounds like I only take them when I want, but I don't I have been taking them everyday. I missed one day over the weekend and I could really tell it.

I feel bad that I have not been posting any pictures lately, but I have not been able to get to take any. I got bored the other night and went walking around taking pictures and both Kelsey and Mike laughed at me and would not let me take any of them. So guess you'll just have to look a few tree limbs I took.

Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say Hi to everyone and provide an update on Mike job.

MIKE IS EMPLOYED!!!!

YEAH, WOODY GOT A JOB:)

Hello all, wanted to share the great news that Mike is now employed. He got a job with a local Petroleum company that builds gas stations and also services gas pumps. He is really excited about it. He will be over the warehouse and I think something with maintenance. Not sure just what he will be doing with the maintenace part yet. So far he is enjoying it, but this is only his third day. I also think that just being out of the house is as exciting as getting the job. Stay tuned to more updates as the weeks go along.

My Cardo Visit Update

I saw the cardio doctor this week to follow up from my test results, a really nice guy. He said that the test came back fine but he does not think my current Blood Pressure med's working to my benefit. In fact he thinks it was working against me to stress out my heart in stead of helping it. So he has put my on some new meds, and this is the third day so far and it seems to really be working at this point.

Things are working in our favor this week thanks to everyone's prayers and support. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving, I know we have a lot to be thankful for the Good Lord has blessed us in so many way, we continue to see these ways every day.
Hugs and Kisses to all

WONDERING?

Well I am sure those of you that keep up with The Woodring's are wondering how things are since I have not updated this in a while, and I am sure there are a few that are wondering what Woody is doing now. At this point he is doing nothing!!!! His temp job at the other plumbing company ended and he has not worked in several weeks now and is still seeking employment somewhere. He did go to an interview Monday and they offered him the job, but he has not accepted it yet. He also had another interview locally and indicated that it would be 3 to 5 weeks before they hire and was just doing interviews right now. Another offer came in from a delivery company for temp help for the next 90 days but he is looking for something permanent and he would be right back to where he is now in 90 days.

I am not sure he knows what he wants to do, if he wants to stay in the plumbing field or not. So, he has to make the right choice that won't give him regrets that "He Wished he Would Have Done". Kelsey and I also want him to make the right choice for him, I keep telling him to do what is right for him, make sure it feels right when he does it. We are supporting him 100%, but can not make his decisions for him. I can however say that this is a man with a true heart of gold, a man that will support anyone 100+% and not ask for anything in return. He does not want to do something half way, he wants to give someone 200% but can not find someone willing to see what he can do and will do for them. To everyone he is just another applicant!!! Please, Please, Please keep him in your prayers, I am really worried about him right now.

GOOD NEWS AND REALLY GREAT NEWS!!!

THE GOOD NEWS:
My test results came back OK, don't get to excited yet, cause my family doctor said that she is not able to read in detail the test and would like to send me to a Cardo doctor to review the test and to ensure there is not problems. My family doctor indicate that being boarding line and with family history would warrant someone experienced in this area to review just to make sure. I am ok with this, because I will be able to rest better know that more than one doctor has read them. Now on to the really great news!!!

THE REALLY GREAT NEWS:
Mike had an semi-interview yesterday with a really great company yesterday and goes back to meet the co-owners on Monday, and it's in town. Which means we would not have to relocate!! He is really excited about it, so we are continuing to ask for your prayers, we feel they are working or we would not have made it this far. I'll share the name of the company once he gets an offer and starts working there, we do not want to go through the same thing like what happened before with his last job.

Results

Don't know them yet, but let me tell you that was not a fun thing to do. Not something I would want to do everyday.

Day one was an experience!!
I checked in at 7:00 am, by 7:15 they were sticking this really large needle in my left arm for the injection of dye. I thought it was going to be an IV but turned out to be just an injection. After the injection I had to sit for 45 minutes, they gave me a sprite to drink, said the sprite helps move the dye around and gets it to the heart quicker. I'm not sure, but they know what they are doing. After sitting for 45 minutes they take me back to the x-ray room, cold dark room and tell me to lay on the table. This table is about a foot across and hard, as I am laying down the nurse puts a pillow under my legs. comfort is not something they are considering at this point. This big x-ray thing comes down on top of you and kinda sits about 3 inches from your nose and goes the length of your whole body. After laying still for about 15 minutes with this thing up my nose, the nurse tells me that the machine is going to start rotating around me and to lay still. Ok, up to this point it I have been still for 15 minutes or longer and she is telling to continue to stay still. yeah right lady. If I don't have a heart issue before now I will have when you get done with me. Anyway, this machine starts going around me and of course I am looking at it and it making me dizzy. This went on for about 7 more minutes. "OK YOUR DONE" I was never so glad to hear them words, and to think I am paying for this fun!!! The nurse advise me to exit out the door and return to tomorrow for the stressing part of the test. Like that wasn't stressing enough.

Day Two was even better yet!
I presented at 7:30 for this part of the test, only this time I had to go to a whole different part of the building. I got a really great nurse this time, who really loved to talk about her new hair cut she had just gotten. (it's was a really cute cut) She explain everything she was going to be doing, she hooked me up to an EKG machine, took my blood pressure, put these little round circle with clips all over me and put a belt with a bunch of wires around my waist and hooked the wires up to the circles. Once she got all this done she said she was going to start an IV, I was fine up till this point, but that IV really hurt. It went in the back or top of my hand. Ok, we are ready to start, now remember I am all hooked up and now they want me to get on a treadmill and walk as much as I can. This treadmill starts out slow and them starts to pickup every few seconds, and inclines at the same time. Well the good news is I walked 7 minutes, the bad news is remember the IV in my hand, the Doctor thinks he is going to inject this dye again through the IV port as I am walking!!!! yeah you guessed it, he was moving this port around and HURTING ME!!!! Here I am trying to walk this treadmill and he is jabbing at me. He finally gets it in and they take me off. I have to walk down to the x-ray room which is two floors down and go through the x-ray fun again. Thankfully I get there and they are waiting for me with another sprite to drink, I was thirsty by this time. And once I finished that it was back to the 1 foot table again. Only thing is this time it was easier. I was so tired from the walking I fell asleep and didn't even think about the machine up my face.

So now what?
Now I have to wait for them to compare the two tests and let me know what they found out. This should be some time next week. I will let you all know once I hear back from them.

Big Test is Tomorrow!!

I have put it off long enough and I could not put it off any longer, tomorrow is the start of the big STRESS test I have to have. Back a few months ago I have some issues that the my health care provider wanted me to have a stress test. But after the test was done I was resting and the heart doctor asked me if I felt anything, I said I feel my heart beating and was out of breath. So he wrote pain in chest on the paperwork. Which was a BIG red flag to my primary care provider. She wants me to have this two day stress test, the 1st day is tomorrow that the 2nd day is Friday morning. On the 1st day, they are going to have me resting and inject a dye and then take images or pictures kinda like an MRI. The test is suppose to take something like 2 hours. The 2nd day is the hard part, you have to get all hooked up again to the injection of dye then get on the treadmill and increase your heart rate while this IV is in your arm. Once you get your heart rate up by walking on the treadmill they will pull you off and send you back to the image or picture machine (MRI thing) to compare to the resting pictures they took the day before. Like this is going to be fun!!! I am sure it's not going to be easy but I will give it a shot.

Not sure what they are going to find with all this but I am trusting them as they know what they are doing. The test is going to be done by the group of doctor (or clinic) I work at, so that gives me a little more trust in them. Notice I did not say faith, reason is my faith is in the Lord with this. I have been able to trust his lead up till this point and I am not going to back down now.

I will update everyone once things as best I can as we go along.

Grandma Linda's New Loveseat & Chair

Grandma Linda had been looking for a new love seat and chair for her living room. Last weekend her and I went back to a store where she had seen one she really liked but they had sold it by the time we got back. Since Mike has been if KY all week I did not have anything else to do so we shopped around Saturday afternoon at some other stores and this is what she found. She got a really great deal, and it looks really great in her living room

I carry my camera with me all the time so when we were at the store I took a picture of it in case she wanted to think about it. But she didn't think to long cause she really liked it when she first saw it.

WHAT A TRIP WE HAD

Recently a group of great friends took a trip to Talladega Alabama for a NASCAR race. What a wonderful time we had. This is an annual event that every year keeps getting better and better. We stay in a place 30 miles east of Huntsville, Alabama called Guntersville, it's also about 60 miles from the track. This year we were able to get two races in, we did a truck race on Saturday and the big NASCAR Cup race on Sunday. Of course anytime you go to a race you have to tailgate, check out some of the fun we had while tailgating. Here are some of my photo's from our trip, oh by the way you won't find Kelsey in any of these because she was not able to go with us this year due to her volleyball tournaments. I am proud to say they came in 2nd place in their tournament. She will be back with us next year.
Hug and Kiss's to all.
Love ya:)

Tailgating after the race. As you can see some of the group was not feeling any pain!

Each time she serves she is scoring a point for her team, Not sure how many she got but a few. The ended up winning this game and lost the next two games. Sorry for the bad quality of the film, hope you can see which one she is, again she is the one serving.

Kelsey playing softball at her last game.

ANOTHER FAMILY UPDATE

Well, I guessed it was about time to bore everyone again with another family update.

Somethings have changed since my last update, as you last recall Mike was unemployed and he was taking some test for the local trades in the area. The good news on him is he has passed all his test with flying colors. There were several test he had to take over two days, the highest score you could get was a 7. I am very proud to say Mr. Woodring got one 7, four 6's and the rest were all 5's. He even improved on the one 4 he had the last time in team work. He is starting to play better with other in the sand box!!!! Well, what now you ask? He has gotten two offers, both offers were well under his expected pay range and he turned down both of them. He is wanting to apply for a job at the local damn but it won't come open till after the first of the year. In the mean time he has been contracting himself out to do odd jobs or general labor work. He loves it!!! He got to learn how to operate a BIG trash truck for a while and is now helping out some friends with general labor work, like unloading and loading trucks, cutting wood, cleaning up work sites, running errons, and other general stuff like that. AND HE LOVES IT!!! I can not express enough, how much he has changed over the last few weeks. He is such a wonderful person to be around again. Let me also say this he is now doing laundry, dishes and vacuums. Eat your heart out girls cause he's mine!!!! One day something will come along and he will have to move on from his general labor work but until then he is going to enjoy every minute of it.
As for Kelsey.....she is about to finish up with her Volleyball, I think they only have about 2 or 3 games left. And her softball games are also about to end, I have a great movie of her playing softball, once I figure out how to add it to this blog I will, so check back in a few days. I might have it up by then. She hasn't been bowling since spring due to all her other games she's got going on, however she is wanting to return to her bowling once softball and volleyball are done. Oh, and she also has a boyfriend now, his name is Michael. Mike and I have only met once but seems like a really nice guy. He came to her softball game the other night and meet her dad for the first time. Let's just say he is a little nerves around him. It's funny his my space page indicates that he has "meet the girl for him" meaning Kelsey. At 14 and 15 years of age how do you know that? but I think back and Mike and I were only 16/17 when we started dating. So who knows:)
As for me.....Well I am plugging along, my job is really crazy right now. I had a staff of 5 and lost 4 of them and now I am training 3 new hires so it's keeping me busy and working extra overtime. I am also keeping busy with my hair ladies. Seems everyone needs a perm at the same time. So between volleyball, softball, overtime, and hair I don't have any time for myself these days. I am sure it will all come to an end real soon and I will have so much time on my hands I won't know what to do. Mike and I are going to Alabama this weekend for 4 days, Kelsey is not going with us. She has a volleyball tournament to play in on Saturday and two softball games on Sunday so she wanted to stay home and do these instead of going with us.
So maybe a few days of rest will be good.

PLAY BALL!

Welcome to Kelsey's first ever fast pitch softball game. I am going to let the pictures speak for themself. Hope you enjoy:)
The other team was up to bat first and here she is playing 2nd base.

We are 2nd in batting order, here we are getting to bat for the first time ever she did hit the ball but it was an out.

Swing Batter Swing!

Since our 1st time was an out, we are getting a short batting lesson in between.

IT'S A BASE HIT!!!!!
Not much power behind the hit, but enought to get her to 1st base. they say she is the fastest runner on the team.

Keep your eye on the batter.

Run, Go, GO, GO

Hold up, keep your eye on the batter. Be ready

This is were it ended,
she got all the way to 3rd base and the 3rd out was made and she did not make a run in.
Game went into a tie and they won 7-5.
We play again next sunday, so I will keep you posted with more pictures.
Hugs and kiss to all:)

Family Update

By now I am sure you all are aware Mike is unemployed. After 12 years of up and downs Mike decided it's best to start a new life doing something different. What that different is we are still trying to understand. See we thought that the something different was a lot different then what we got. What we bidded on was the material way of life, better pay, better working hours, room to expand, and more things. But you see someone that already has all this stuff felt that we did not need these things and choose to change our path altogether. Oh, I am not saying they were right or they did the right thing, what I am trying to say is I am glad they did what they did. See now that Mike is unemployed he is relaxed, enjoyable and fun to be around. Reminds me of the Mike I fell in love with many years ago. Over the years of trying to provide for your family wears on you to the point you can not enjoy life any more. Knowing that you have to face something that is not enjoyable anymore became a daily undertaking of depression, lack of self esteem, anger, hate, and lack of passion. So you ask yourself daily Why am I doing this to myself and my family?
So now you ask, What is ahead for the Woodring's? Well we are still trying to find out our self. We have taken a few days to rediscover each other and have decided that the future is not in our hands it is the hands of God. The good lord would not have presented this to us with out having a plan in mind. What we have to do is allow that plan to be seen and to take place.
Mike is taking steps to find a new job, it may not be in the same line of work he was in. I think at this point he would like to see what else is out there besides plumbing. He has spoken with someone regarding some possible opening at the local lock and damn, he has also been taking pre-testing for some of the trades in the area. I am really proud to say, the highest score is a 6 and he has gotten several 6's, several 5's and only one 4 (that was in team work, he does not like to play fair!). He will go back this next week for the real test, once he takes this and if he scores high he could get some really great offers. So keep him in your prayers as he prepare to take these test next week. As for the rest of us, were doing fine. Oh, we have our ups and our downs but knowing that our love and faith for each other is what is keeping us going. I could not be more proud of him and what he is doing.
Hug and kisses to all:)

WE MADE THE TEAM

WE MADE THE 8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL TEAM
After three long weeks of volleyball camp and tryouts everyday we finally made the team. Kelsey is so excited. Her goal was to make the team and she did it. We are so proud of her, so look forward to the game action pictures coming up. She will find out in the next few days if she is going to be on the A team or the B team. At this point she doesn't care, all she is excited about is
SHE MADE THE TEAM:)
Hugs and Kisses to all.

Marango Cave Adventure

Not really much to say about this other than after our Kayaking trip we decided to stop at Marango Cave on our way home. The best part of the cave was the 53 degree temp. It was so nice after the hot day on the river. Just a family picture to capture the moment.
Hugs and Kisses to all:)

A FAMILY DAY ON THE RIVER.

Let me set the mood for you.......

A beautiful HOT (upper 90's)summer day, two overworked forty year olds, one fourteen year old, three yellow kayak's, and a 7 mile kayak ride down the Blue River!!!

Due to staff shortage at both our job's neither one of us have any time off this year. Kelsey has been traveling most of the summer with my parents and has not been home much. So we decided to take a few day off before Kelsey goes back to school and get in some quality family time. The first few days started out real slow, just stayed close to home and caught up on that extra sleep we have been missing by working extra overtime. But one day we wanted to see what it would be like to relax on the river. Now most of you all know, to Mike a relaxing day on the river is his 21 foot ranger bass boat, but not today......... He traded in his 200 horse power engine for a paddle.

Now Kelsey on the other hand was real thrilled I have a camera, I wish I had a dime for every time she got mad at me for having this camera in her face ( I would be rich). Here you will see she is trying to ignore me but I just keep on clicking. Little does she know this picture makes her look like she is picking her nose. She really is NOT, just board waiting for the bus to pick us up.

So we load the bus to ride several miles up river to our put in spot. As you see I am not in many of these photo's because I am the one with the camera. You would think as much as I have it stuck in their face they would want to get back at me and take mine, but nooooooooo I am always the one taking theirs.

Here we go down the river................................................

Sorry about the quality of these photo's, see I did not want to take my good camera with us so I bought a cheap disposal camera and it was not water proof. WHAT WAS I THINKING!

We started out smooth and getting used to the kayak's, the map provided to us at the rental shop showed we would end going about 7 miles, with two to three rapids along the way. Well let me explain what they called rapids, there were more than two, try 5 different places. You see southern Indiana has not had any rain in several weeks so all the creeks and ponds around here are VERY low, so when we got to the rapids it was very shallow water. Often times you would bottom out and get stuck and have to get out of your kayak and walk it past the so called rapids.
By about the third or fourth rapid we were tried of getting stuck and we had not even gone about 2 miles of our 7 mile trip. We were thinking if we have to do this the whole way it's going to be a long day! By the time we got to the last rapid (or shallow section) it split around an island. Kelsey and Mike went to the left and was having a hard time and I went to the right thinking it might be easier. BOY WAS I WRONG.... in short....got stuck, went to get out of my kayak, fell forward and was lying on top of the kayak, was able to float lose and when I went to get up, the kayak turned over, dumping me into the river. Of course Kelsey and Mike were laughing so hard they could not help much, I at this point have had enough. Get me out of here, I was not enjoying what God had created because it was to much work!!!! Once he was able to stop laughing Mike did come to my rescue and helped me pour all the water out of the kayak and catch the things that floated out of my kayak, and get be back on track again.
He is a good man:)

Now this was our last rapids, (we did not know this till after) and the remaining 4 to 5 miles was all higher water which was really enjoyable. We were able to pull off in spots and break for lunch and Kelsey loved swimming in the river.

By the end of the 7 miles we were all so glad to see the take out spot. Our arms and backs were is so much pain it was going to be a long ride home.
I am going to leave you now with just a few extra photos taking along the way.
Enjoy and love you all:)

MUDD VOLLEYBALL

Mudd Volleyball only things I can say is I wish I could have gotten some better pictures. My digital was all I had, the 200 zoom uses file and I had forgot I used the last roll Monday night when the girls pig wrestled. So sorry for the bad quality, but you will still be able to get the idea. As the night went along the sun went down and the camera did not take that good of pictures.

The girls didn't seem to be as interested in the mudd volleyball as they were the pig wrestling.

Don't they look thrilled?

Here is the group again, Notice how clean they are now...but just wait.

They are wearing black again, Here they are going across the filed to get to their court.

round. In between the 1st and 2As we go along they win the first game and get to go on to the 2ndnd game they re-wet the mudd. During the first game the mudd is drying out so they don't get very muddy. But just wait till we get to the 2nd game!!!!

Ok maybe this is not so bad. Let's check out the mudd and see how hard this is going to be.
Don't fall in the mudd girls!!!
Win 15-9, Way to go girls!!!

Ok, here is where they are wetting down the mudd for the 2nd game. Sorry I did not get very good pictures of the 2nd game due to the sun going down and the court was to far away.

The other team got muddier than Kelsey's team.

Great games girls, better luck next time.

Another trip to the showers!!! Hope you all have a way home, cause your not going in my car!!!

Mom said that I was not able to ride home with her, do you see a problem with this??? I promise I will keep my feet off the seats!!!!

The girls has a great time, in all I think they had more fun with the pigs on Monday night but I am sure they will try this again next year.

LET'S WRESTLE A PIG???

Want a good laugh, well sit back and enjoy these next few pictures. See the local county fair was this week and Kelsey and 3 of her girl friends decided they wanted to wrestle a PIG!!!!. Yes wrestle a pig for fun. A team of four is Kelsey, Brittney, Devon, and Katelynn. So they got together and thought up a team name and made up team shirts.

Now I can hear Kelsey now "Girls let's go get that pig!!!"

Just thought you might like to see the pig pin.

No woman in her right mind would pass this up!!!!
"LET'S GO GIRLS"

Here they are lined up to jump in, now the object as you are waist high in water, is you have to grab the pig within 60 seconds and pin it on top of the tire in the middle of the pen. The pen to the left is some of these pictures is for the boys. See the teams have to be all boys or all girls. Which ever team to pin the pig first won that match. Not sure what you won other than a trip to the shower's. but we'll get to that in a little bit.

Yes, that is Kelsey on the right side of the pin on the left, (she is the only blond) and she has the Pig! But it gets away.

"Quick I got it, come help me get it to the tire."
I am sure Kelsey is saying this as she grab the pig and tries to lift it up. Let me tell you she is not afraid of this pig. If I was the pig I would run too!

Way to go girls, you wrestled the pig and won!!!!

This is the after picture, can you pick out which one is Kelsey? She is the one that is covered in all the mud. Not sure I want any of these girls to go home in my car. Might let them walk home.

Now here's the showers I was talking about, you can't see it but down to the left side is a small pond and the shower water is being pumped up from the lake and through hoses. Now if you did not get enough mud wrestling the pig, the pond water might have a little mixed in.

One last pictures I had to share with everyone, This was where you left your shoe, sock, or anything else your parents would not let you take home.
In all the girls had a great time, I am sure they are already planning for next year. But before they get to that I think they are planning on doing mud volleyball Thursday night. So once I get those pictures I'll post them as soon as I can. Just in case you are wondering I made Kelsey do her laundry when she got home.
